As of 2024, Medicare officially began covering patient advocacy services. That means for the first time, older adults can get support from trained advocates—at typically no cost to them. We launched Careway because we've seen firsthand how overwhelming the healthcare system can be and the impact of care navigation on patient outcomes.
The Careway team has spent our entire careers in healthcare. Our lead physician, Dr. Margarita Pena has 30+ years of experience in Emergency Medicine at Henry Ford St. John Hospital in Detroit. As Medical Director of St. John's Clinical Decision Unit, she led efforts to improve care coordination and outcomes for underserved patients, with deep expertise in addressing social determinants of health.
